Vulnerability assessment is a very useful method for identifying the weaknesses of bridges that have long been constructed which their resistance against contingent earthquakes is measured. Using seismic vulnerability assessment, the need or lack of need of bridges for optimization is determined. 

Several methods, such as linear static method, nonlinear static method, linear dynamic method and nonlinear dynamic method, can be used to perform the analysis to evaluate seismic vulnerability.

The SAP2000 is a very powerful software for dynamic and static analysis and linear and nonlinear analysis. Thus, seismic evaluation using this software can provide precise and useful results.
